FORT LAUDERDALE OFFICE CAMPUS BREAKS GROUND AS FIRST WITH MULTIPLE LEED CERTIFICATIONS IN STATE OF FLORIDA

Ft. Lauderdale, FL – December 4, 2012 James Goldstein, President of Midgard Group, announced today that 1451 Crown Center met the rigorous standards set by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). 1451 is now certified as LEED Silver in Existing Building: Operations and Maintenance (EBOM).

This recent achievement marks another milestone as Crown Center is the first commercial office campus in the state of Florida to have multiple buildings to be certified on a single parcel.

Midgard Management, a Midgard Group company, outlined their commitment to manage their portfolio with environmental stewardship and social responsibility in 2008. Managing to LEED standards improves building performance and provides its occupants with a healthy indoor space to work.

The Crown Center buildings were originally constructed in the early 1980’s with no energy efficiencies. The first successful registration was completed 2009 with 1401 Crown Center. Despite being an existing building, 1401 earned a LEED Silver New Construction because of a gut renovation and second floor addition that added 25,000 square feet to the structure. Shortly thereafter, the 1475 building, home of the Midgard’s corporate office, earned a LEED Existing Building: Operations and Maintenance (EBOM) designation. 1415 Crown Center, home to Crown Center Executive Center, is LEED Silver EBOM certified. 1201 Crown Center is in the process of being LEED-registered and a master plan is place to complete LEED certifications for the remaining buildings in the future.

“It is a remarkable accomplishment and we are incredibly proud of our staff and service providers. This was a team effort that creates a sustainable environment that will pay off for our owners and benefit tenants,” said Lynn-Ann Ierna, Director of Property Management.

Crown Center has received multiple awards and recognition this year as the winner of The Outstanding Building of Year award for Suburban Low Rise, recipient of Broward County Emerald Award, and most recently the City of Fort Lauderdale’s ACE Award.
